This week has marked the return of old man winter to the Pacific Northwest. As if to hail his arrival we’ve been served with a heaping helping of “Pineapple Express” for the past several days. For those of you not in the know, a “Pineapple Express” is the left over remnants of a tropical storm that generally hits the Hawaiian islands, makes its way across the Pacific and descends upon the main land with a mighty force.

While this is nothing in the vein of catastrophic, it does drop an inordinate amount of water on the city making the thought of leaving the house generally undesirable. On the more positive side, though, it’s fun (and a bit therapeutic) listening to the absolute downpour of rain outside. I find that it makes me hungry for a hot beverage and a good book; not to mention a bit nostalgic for the Bay Area.
