Dream the Optimal Dream

Last week we headed over to The Curiosity Group to talk about a project that they were helping the school district on. I went along to talk about the current state of the district’s CMS and to apprise them of some of the problems they could expect to encounter while working on the project.

The Curiosity Group is a fairly normal design studio located in Portland. They have a very hip, modern and laid back studio setting with tons of windows and copious amounts of natural light. The overall mood was very mellow, which is probably owed in large part to the low-key attitudes of the people employed there.

As I walked around I found myself really missing the small agency environment. The exciting atmosphere of working shoulder to shoulder with other creatives, the hectic timelines, the challenge of learning something new every single day. I love being on my own right now, and dealing with Portland’s school district as one of my main clients for the last year has been great, but I also miss the hustle and bustle of the agency environment. Perhaps one day I’ll return to it as a worker bee if the right opportunity comes along. For now, though, eljl, my little one man show, needs my attention.
